Clonmany boxer enters the Pro ranks 09.03.12

A former Clonmany boxer has achieved a perfect opener in the professional ranks.
Light welter weight Daniel Mulhern made it two wins from two in his paid ranks with a 40-36 four round victory over Latvian Olafs Sirmanis at York Hall, Bethnal Green, on Sunday.
Mulhern looked in control from the start with a large Donegal and Irish following in the audience.
In the third round, Mulhern grew in stature and he found two left hooks to follow a straight right that momentarily troubled Sirmanis.
The Luton-based Clonmany man was shoved to the canvas as the Latvian pushed him into the ropes in the fourth and final round.
But Mulhern picked himself up and stuck to his task more determined than ever. He finished strongly with a left hook and a quick two-fisted combination which confirmed what was obvious from the first bell - a unanimous points victory.
