Arctic visitor lands for its holidays 10.10.14

A beautiful Snow Bunting enjoys a day out at a local beach after arriving for its autumn holidays from Greenland.
Photographer and Wild Inishowen member Christine Cassidy snapped the bird as it avoided the showers. She explained that the welcome little visitor was on the Amber List of endangered birds due to a scarcity of breeding.
"The Snow Bunting, sometimes colloquially called a Snowflake...is an Arctic specialist. Globally they breed around the Arctic from Scandinavia to Alaska, Canada and Greenland and migrate south in winter."
