€10,000 co-op boost for Donegal Hospice 18.02.15

THE Donegal Hospice has been presented with a cheque for €10,000 from a leading Irish co-operative society.
Aurivo Co-Op has businesses in a number of sectors including consumer foods, dairy ingredients, livestock marketing and timber processing. Its brands include Donegal Creameries, Organic for Us and Connacht Gold.
Its Charity of the Year 2014 was the hospice movement in the North West region. A total of €40,000 was presented to the four hospices: Donegal, North West, Mayo/ Roscommon and Galway. Its Charity of the Year 2015 is Pieta House.
Aurivo ceo Aaron Forde; Aurivo chairman, Tom Cunniffe; Aurivo Donegal board member, Billy McMahon and Aurivo vice chair, Michael Brennan present a cheque to Geraldine Casey, treasurer, Donegal Hospice. Aurivo’s Charity of the Year for 2015 is Pieta House which will directly support the establishment of a Pieta House suicide and self harm crisis centre in Co Donegal.
The money was raised as employees of the co-operative took part in a number of fundraisers.
Aurivo ceo, Aaraon Forde, said: “The Charity of the Year programme is an important element for Aurivo as we believe it is vital to give back to the communities that support our business. By getting our staff involved in fun, local events, we were able to raise vital funds for local hospices, which is a cause close to so many people’s hearts.”
