A popular bar and
restaurant in Moville has been gutted in an early
morning fire. The Waterfront at the town's shore
front was destroyed when the fire broke out in the
early hours of Sunday morning. Up to nine fire
tenders from Moville, other parts of Inishowen and
Derry battled for hours to get the blaze under
control.
It is understood the
fire broke out around 4am in an older part of the
building. Eyewitnesses described how the
fire-fighters had almost got the blaze under control
when strong winds fanned the flames causing the fire
to spread to the rest of the building. Residents in
homes and properties adjoining the bar-restaurant on
James Street were evacuated until the blaze was
contained and the street made safe. Nobody was
injured in the fire.
