Buncrana gets €1m to spend 21.12.07

BUNCRANA Town Council will get spending money of just over €1m from central Government next year.
The allocation is €1,088,368 is €143,348 more than the 2007 allocation and will go towards the provision of services to the people of the seaside town.
The Council's other revenue will come from commercial rates, development charges and for the first time next year, parking charges.
Donegal County Council is to receive nearly €45m in funding from the 2008 Local Government Fund.
This represents a 6.11% increase - or €2,540,830 more than the 2007 allocation.
Donegal North East T.D., Deputy Niall Blaney said the increases were needed to offset a rise in costs in the year ahead.
“I am hopeful that the increased funding being provided will enable Councils to further improve the services they provide while keeping increases in commercial rates and charges to an appropriate minimum," said Deputy Blaney.
Meanwhile, Letterkenny Town Council is to receive €1,306,455 or €57,285 more than the allocation in 2007.
The 2008 Local Government Fund general purpose allocations amount to almost €1 billion, with all local authorities receiving rises on last year.
