Two arrested after border fatality 18.07.07

Police in Derry have interviewed two men in relation to Thursday's fatality near Bridgend in which a man was killed by a car being pursued by gardai.
The alleged hit-and-run happened shortly before 10am just yards inside the Northern side of the Donegal-Derry border at Coshquin.
The victim, 46-year old father-of-two Tommy Long from Carnhill, Derry, was hit by a Vauxhall Corsa, as he worked at his roadside fruit and vegetable stall.
In a separate tragedy, it was revealed yesterday that Mr. Long's sister, Martha Doherty, is now also struggling to cope with the sudden death of her husband.
The body of Jim Doherty, a 60-year old father-of-five, was recovered from the River Foyle around 7pm on Saturday, just hours after he had attended his brother-in-law's wake. He will be buried today.
The Vauxhall Corsa involved in accident.
Meanwhile, both the PSNI and the Garda Ombudsman are investigating the Bridgend collision.
A PSNI spokesperson yesterday told InishowenNews.com that two men had been interviewed in relation to the fatality. One had been questioned on the day of the accident, the other on Friday.
"Both were released on police bail pending further enquiries," said the spokesperson.
One man had been arrested by Gardai shortly after the collision in Bridgend. The matter, however, is now being investigated by the Garda Ombudsman.
A Garda Ombudsman spokesperson yesterday said the inquiry was ongoing. She could not comment further however and could not say how long the investigation would take. The PSNI have urged witnesses to contact them.
