Crash victim transferred to Dublin 26.06.07

A teenage girl from the Buncrana area was transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin yesterday after sustaining serious injuries in an horrific crash outside the town.
The single-vehicle accident happened at Fallask, on the main Buncrana to Clonmany road, at 12.30am yesterday when a car carrying four teenagers, two male and two female, left the road and crashed into a field.
One male, who is understood to have been trapped under the car, sustained serious injuries. But the worst of the injuries were sustained by the female who was later taken to Dublin for specialised treatment. The other two victims' injuries were not as serious.
Gardai investigating the accident, sealed off the crash scene yesterday for technical examination. The main road between Shandrum Crossroads and Rushfield Lane remained closed until around 4pm.
Gardai at Buncrana are appealing for witnesses and can be contacted on 07493 61555. Meanwhile, there were long tailbacks on the main Buncrana to Derry road on Sunday afternoon following an accident shortly before 4pm involving a jeep and a boy on a bicycle.
It's understood the boy was taken to hospital but his injuries were not life threatening. Anyone who saw the accident is asked to contact the Burnfoot traffic corps on 07493 68194.
