Five-star plan to create 200
jobs
23.05.07
A new €20m tourism
investment including five-star conference centre,
four-star apart-hotel and 100 luxury apartments will
create 200 full-time jobs in Inishowen.
According to a report in the 'Inishowen Independent'
the proposed developments are earmarked for a new
site at Ballyliffin and also include the
redevelopment of the Crossroads Inn at Malin Head
and the Malin Hotel. |

Two Malin-based
companies, Kento and Lasswade, have drawn up the
plans.
Lasswade director, Patrick J. Loughrey told the
'Independent': "The proposed five-star development
will create close to 100 jobs on completion and will
also be a major destination facility which will
encourage tourists from both the UK and Ireland. |
"We would foresee the
facility complementing the excellent golf course at
Ballyliffin and provide additional quality
accommodation in the area."
The Ballyliffin five-star conference centre would be
aimed at the growing golfing and corporate market
and would include 100 two-bedroom luxury apartments.
Mr. Loughrey said the plans for the landmark
Crossroads Inn included its redevelopment into a
four-star apart-hotel complex with visitor and craft
centre.
"Once you add the redevelopment of the current Malin
Hotel into a four-star facility offering 42 bedroom
suites, new function room and wellbeing area, you
can envisage what we are trying to do - create
employment through providing quality and innovative
hospitality facilities catering for various
audiences," he said.
The companies said they envisaged a timeframe of
around five years for completion of all the
projects, creating around 300 construction jobs in
the process. |
