The Blood Transfusion Service Board’s mobile unit will be at Carndonagh Community School on Wednesday, May 21 from 3pm to 4.45pm and again from 7pm to 9.30pm. The unit will be there again on Thursday, May 22 from 2pm to 4.45pm and from 7pm to 9.30pm. Blood donors are especially needed at this time to meet the needs of those who are depending on the resources of the transfusion service to be available to them.

Barney Toland has hedging and herbaceous plants for sale with all proceeds going to overseas aid agency Concern. Call Barney on 93 74706.

As part of Donegal Walking Week a lovely walk will take place from Inch Level, Burt, on Sunday, May 25. Walkers will leave the car park at Inch Level (Slab Road from St. Aengus Church, Burt) at 2pm. The walk - about four miles - will take the form of a loop on a flat gravel surface that will be signposted from the church to Farland Point. It is suitable for all level of fitness and is passable with sturdy pushchairs. It will take place within a wildlife conservation area so please note that dogs are not allowed. The finish point is back at the Inch Level car park. It is estimated the walk will take about two hours to complete. Everyone is welcome. The Inishowen Country Markets will take place in the Church Hall, Church Street, Buncrana on May 17 and May 31; June14 and June 28. The market runs from 2pm to 3pm. Come along early as produce sells quickly.

First Holy Communion will take place in Carndonagh on Saturday, May 17.

A sponsored walk in aid of St. Luke's Hospital in Dublin and Letterkenny's Day Care Oncology Ward will take place this Sunday, May 18 at 2pm going from Culdaff to Malin via McSheffrey's Bridge. For sponsor cards, please call 93 79166.

There will be a sponsored walk in aid of the Alan Doherty Fund on Sunday, May 18 at 3.00pm. The walk will be leaving St Mary’s Hall, Clonmany going via Binnion, Tullagh, the Rusty Nail in Crossconnell and back to the hall again where refreshments will be served to all participants. Sponsor cards are available by contacting Eddie on 9376781 or Breege on 9376391. Later that night at 10.30pm there will be music and a raffle in James Tam's, Clonmany in aid of the same fund. All sponsor cards returned by that time will be entered into a special draw.

A sponsored walk in aid of the Carndonagh Community Hospital Patients' Comfort Fund will be held on Sunday, June 22. The walk will leave from Mary Deeney's Bar, Ture at 2pm going to McGowan's Bar in Redcastle. For more information and to get a sponsor card please contact Helen on 93 83821.

Inishowen Gardening Club will hold a plant sale on Monday, May 26 at 7pm in the Wesley Hall, Carndonagh. Come along for some great bargains in plants and garden sundries. There will also be an outing to Dunmore House, Carrigans, on Sunday, June 8. Bus will leave from the Diamond, Carndonagh, at 2pm. For further enquiries or to book your place phone Maura on 93 29651.
Competition details: all the members present at the April meeting were given a Dahlia plant. They will bring in three blooms to the September meeting which will be judged by the guest speaker that night.

A public lecture hosted by Aware will take place in the Inishowen Gateway Hotel in Buncrana on Thursday, May 15, at 8pm. The lecture is entitled 'Depression & Alcohol: A Complex Interaction' and will be given by GP, Dr Seamus O’Domhnaill and a panel of speakers. Admission is free and everyone is welcome. Dutch dance teachers Noor McGuigan and Akbar Helweg are to lead a unique dance workshop entitled 'Greening with Life' at the Centre for Peace and Reconciliation at Loreto House, Linsfort.
The workshop is part of the Dances of Universal Peace movement and include simple dance movements and meditation in song. The event will take place from May 23 to May 25. Fully residential fee is €190, Friday evening only is €12 and Saturday only is €50 including a meal. For further details contact Bev Doherty on 07493 74581.

The Job Club Centre will be starting a new job-seeking programme soon in Moville, Carndonagh and Buncrana. The sessions will take place a few mornings per week.
