The Seniors were away to Naomh Columba last Sunday but the long
trip to Glencolmcille was a disappointing one. The former Division 1
team were to run out six point winners on the day. This still leaves
Urris in fifth place in the table but most of the teams below us
have games in hand so points are still needed to secure Division 2
status again next year. Result Naomh Columba 1 – 14 Urris 0 - 11.
Teams should check at training for next week’s fixtures.
There will be a table quiz in the Rusty Nail this Friday evening in
aid of the Club Development Draw. Get your team together and get to
the Rusty early to ensure a good table where you can pit your wits
against the cream of Clonmany’s brains. Quiz gets underway at around
10pm.
Well done to the U14 boys who took on Malin in the Inishowen B Final
last Sunday, The lads put in a massive display and ran out very easy
and very worthy winners in the finish. Congratulations to the whole
team and a big thank you to Paul, Mickey and Sean for all the work
they have put in with them so far this year. Thank you also to all
the parents and supporters who came out to cheer them on last
Sunday. This is always a big boost to the boys and girls during a
big match. The lads should check with Paul for training and match
times over the next few weeks because they will be playing in the
County Championship shortly.
The Minors will be playing a third match against Red Hugh’s in the
County Championship on Wednesday evening in Newton. The game throws
in at 7.30pm and the team should check with John for travel
arrangements on the night. They will also be playing Burt in the
Inishowen Shield Final but once again the date for this fixture has
yet to be set.
The U16 boys will finally finish their long protracted season this
Friday evening in Carndonagh when they take on their counterparts
from Malin in the Division 3 County Shield Final. The match throws
in at 7.30pm. Good luck to the lads, they deserve something out of
what has been a very long year for both themselves and their
mentors. The lads should check with Adrian for travel arrangements.
The U16 girls should keep in touch with Danny to find out if they
have a match this week. U12 girls should also check with Paul at
training for their upcoming fixtures. Training will continue on
Wednesday evenings from 4.30pm to 5.30pm. Parents should call Paul
if the weather is bad to check if training is on.
The U10 boys will be playing in a blitz in two or three weeks time
and so it has been decided to keep training going on Thursday
evenings at 6.30pm. Saturday mornings may also be used if the
weather is bad during the week. Parents are asked to check with
David Hession if they are not sure.
The years drawn in the Urris Match and Win last week were: 1962,
1965, 1970 and 1983. The jackpot wasn’t claimed and next week’s will
now be €3,340. The winners of €15 were: Madge Collins, Carndonagh;
Mary Duffy, Letter; Sadie Green, Gleneely; Kathleen McDaid, Mindoran
and Breege Collins, Golf Course Road, Ballyliffin.
