THE organisers of
BeatlesFest are hopeful the 'Sun King' will smile on
the fourth annual music festival kicking off later
this week in Moville.
The festival this year takes to the streets for the
first time along with the usual pub trail around the
seaside town.
Gerry McLaughlin said recent forecasts of good
weather to come, were coming as a relief: “We were a
bit worried for a while that after booking two of
the biggest Beatles tribute bands in the world to
play in the Malin Road on Saturday and Sunday
evening, we might get washed out if that bad spell
of weather continued.
"However, the forecast for the weekend is for lots
of sunshine and warm weather." Topping the bill for
the street gigs are The Cavernites from Liverpool
and Candlestick Park from Glasgow, both of whom have
played at the world’s biggest Beatles festivals,
Beatles Week in Liverpool and Abbey Road on the
River in Washington DC and Louisville Kentucky.
Festival licences have also been granted and there
will be music in the pubs "through to the wee small
hours". The pubs involved are Rosatos, Bar-a-Cuda,
Rawdons, Town Clock and Caiseal Mara Hotel in
Moville and the Sean Tí in Greencastle. Former
Beatles road manager will travel to the Inishowen
festival again this year. The festival runs from
Thursday, June 2 until Sunday, June 5. |
