40 years of Inishowen athletics 05.01.11

A comprehensive history of 40 years of Donegal and Ulster championship athletics action has just been published.
'Footprints in the Sands of Time - the Story of Donegal Athletics 1969-2009' was written by Bernie O’Callaghan, one of the founding members of the County Donegal Athletics Board. It contains over 1,100 pages and 6,000 photographs and charts the achievements of athletes, coaches and innovators from Inishowen including Pascal Harkin, Johnny Martin, Manus O’Donnell and Margaret Synott, Helena Crossan, Pauric McKinney, Kevin Gill, Philip Connolly, John Keown and Niall McGee. It also points to young stars of the future like Karen Crossan, Ryan McDaid, Denver Kelly and Fergus Cox.
"There is no doubting the place of Inishowen athletes in Irish athletics which continues to bring pride and honour to their county and to the Irish everywhere," said O'Callaghan.
