Judge shuts petrol pumps for 24 hours 10.09.11

A PETROL station in Inishowen has been ordered to close for 24-hours after the owner's conviction for selling marked fuel. McD Fuels in Burnfoot has been told to stop trading for one day on November 10, next. The proprietor, Damian McDaid, was also fined €3,500 after he appeared at Buncrana District Court. Revenue officer, Bernadette Murray, told the court she stopped a woman driving a 4x4 at Ballyderowen, Burnfoot, on April 7, last year. The vehicle's tank was dipped and it tested positive for marked mineral oil, namely a blue dye. The woman said she had just filled her vehicle at McD Fuels, known locally as McDaid's. A sample was subsequently taken at McD Fuels which tested positive for marked fuel. The defendant had no previous convictions, State solicitor Ciaran Liddy told the court. Judge Paul Kelly gave the defendant three months to pay the fine.
