New arts co-op drops anchor 23.07.12

MOVILLE is celebrating the opening of a new arts centre showcasing the creativity and skills of the local artisan community. The Anchor Arts Centre is housed in the former 'Hair O' the Dog' pub ideally located at the town's pier. It is a community co-op run by volunteers.
The group are inviting people to come and join them for the opening of a new art exhibition and open mic this Friday, July 27 at 7pm. The exhibition is called 'To the Waters and the Wild' and features art, crafts, photography and sculpture. There will also be music and readings. The new exhibition features works by Anchor Arts members and includes new paintings by Tanya McColgan, Sebastiano Furci, Sean Cavan, Brendan Farren and Seoirse Ó Dochartaigh. Meanwhile, the new arts group are inviting members of the public to join them throughout the summer.
The ribbon is cut to launch the new Anchor Arts Centre at The Pier, Moville.
The centre's summer opening hours are Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 2pm to 5pm. Also, on the last Friday of the month there will be a new art exhibition and open mic from 7pm to 10pm. And, on Friday, August 10, the new group will launch their Spoken Word & Music Evenings to be held on the second Friday of the month from 7pm to 10pm.
