Carn set for top town park

CARNDONAGH will get a
boost this summer with the opening of one of
Ireland's finest town parks, says local TD Charlie
McConalogue.
People in the town are also looking forward to the
opening of a new public car park and hope both
projects will encourage greater activity in the
town.
“It is fantastic to see these important projects
finally becoming a reality,” said Deputy McConalogue.
“The community has been waiting a long time for the
car park to be completed and I am delighted that
it's finally finished. The car park, complete with
disabled parking spaces, is located on the Station
Road and has pedestrian access to the town at the
Heel Bar. It will go a long way to easing traffic in
the area and will be a welcome boost to local
businesses as motorists will be able to stop easily
and discover what Carndonagh has to offer.” |

Meanwhile, work is
nearly complete on the lone-awaited Barrack Hill
project.
"The four-acre site will host a public park with
children’s playground, cycle track, walking trails,
community allotments and a training shed. The park
is jointly-funded by Donegal County Council and the
Leader programme for rural development and
expansion. It was designed by celebrity gardener
Diarmuid Gavin with the help of over 650 local
people and groups who were consulted as part of the
process.
“Once completed our park will be one of the most
advanced in the country,” added Deputy McConalogue.
“It is particularly exciting for the community as so
many people have been involved in this project from
the beginning. The years of hard work have finally
paid off and everyone should feel extremely proud.
“This park will have something for everyone in the
community. It will also be a welcome boost for local
tourism, with people likely to travel to Carndonagh
to experience our fantastic new facilities.
“I am delighted to see these two projects finally
become a reality. Carndonagh stands to benefit
significantly at a time when the town very much need
a boost,” said Deputy McConalogue. |
