Debt collector slashed with knife 16.02.12

GARDAÍ are investigating a knife attack on a debt collector in Buncrana.
The 47 year old man was attacked as he sat in his vehicle in the car park of Milltown Business Park, Ardaravan, Buncrana. He was approached by a masked man who ordered him to hand over cash. It is understood the victim attempted to fend off his attacker but suffered slash wounds to both hands. He was forced to hand over a wallet containing €1,500 in cash.
After the attacker fled, the victim, who is from the Letterkenny area, managed to make his way to Buncrana Garda Station, a short distance away.
He was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital where he received 10 stitches to his wounds. Gardaí are examining CCTV footage from outlets in Milltown Business Park.
Supt Kevin English yesterday confirmed that the incident happened on Friday around 10.10pm.
"We are keeping an open mind at the moment and are trying to establish who may have known about the victim's movements in Buncrana that night.
"We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in and around that area between 9.30pm and 10.15pm," said Supt English. Witnesses are asked to contact Buncrana Garda Station on 07493 20540.
