Elizabeth unveils Junk Kouture 2012 08.02.12

THE Junk Kouture Recycled Fashion Competition 2012 has announced a stellar line up of judges for the final which will take place in April.
Irish fashion influencers Peter O’Brien and Angela Scanlon will be joined on the judging panel by London-based Irish Designer Zoe Boomer and ERP’s head of corporate communications, Yvonne Holmes. They will judge the top entries from budding designers amongst Ireland’s secondary schools students who have been challenged with creating couture outfits from recycled materials.
ERP Junk Kouture co-ordinator, Elizabeth O’Donnell, from Buncrana said: “We are delighted that Zoe, Peter and Angela will be judging. Their collective experience across all facets of the fashion industry brings great credibility to the competition which, with the great support of ERP, has grown even bigger and better in 2012. I am looking forward to working with all three judges, and to think someone (O'Brien) from the house of Dior will be part of the judging process of ERP Junk Kouture this year is incredible."

ERP's Yvonne Holmes, who takes the fourth seat at the judging table said: “I am delighted to be joining Zoe, Angela and Peter on the judging panel for the ERP Junk Kouture final. The standard of entries in last year’s competition has really whetted our appetite, and I am really looking forward to seeing the creations that will grace the stage next April!”
The recycled fashion competition is open to all secondary school students with the winning school receiving €2,500 in prize money, and the winning team receiving €500, IT equipment to the value of €1,000 and a place on a week-long fashion design course at the Grafton Academy, Dublin. The integration of electrical waste into the design forms part of the challenge, with a special prize being awarded by ERP for its most inspired and creative use. Students must submit their entry online at www.erpjunkkouture.com by February 14, 2012. Sixty outfits will then progress to the grand final in April.
