Nautical Nadine promotes native Derry 16.04.12

GIRLS Aloud singer Nadine Coyle joined a delegation from her native Derry who visited California to promote her home city in the US.
The pop star met business and tourism leaders at a road show event in San Francisco coinciding with the Clipper 2011-2012 International Yacht Race's arrival on America's west coast. Derry will host the race's homecoming in June.
"I am delighted to lend any support I can to raise awareness of my home city of which I am immensely proud," said Nadine, who now lives in California after moving from Inishowen several years ago.

She also met the crew of the Derry~Londonderry yacht as they prepared for the New York leg of the race. Derry delegation member Cllr Martin Reilly said: “We are delighted that Nadine was available to attend and show her support. As one of our most famous cultural exports, her endorsement helps the city and raises awareness of the talent and opportunity that exists, particularly in the run-up to the UK City of Culture 2013."
Derry will see more than £100 million invested in infrastructure and expects to welcome tens of thousands of visitors this year and during next year's City of Culture.
