Isle of Doagh man dies in tragic bicycle fall 10.07.15

A MAN has tragically died several days after falling off his bicycle near his home on the Isle of Doagh, Clonmany.
Brendan Doherty, 56, suffered serious head injuries after colliding with a wall at Maghernaul near his home at Ballindadoe last Sunday.
He was discovered lying on the verge of the rural roadway by a passing motorist at 11.45am.
It is understood Mr Doherty, an unmarried man who was undergoing treatment for cancer, was out for a leisure cycle when the accident happened.
He was rushed to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry but died there on Thursday.
His funeral will take place from his brother's home in Carndonagh to the Church of the Sacred Heart tomorrow, Saturday, for 11am requiem mass.
Local Sinn Féin councillor Albert Doherty, who attended the same primary school as the victim, offered his sympathies to his family.
"I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the bereaved family at this terribly sad time," said Cllr Doherty.
Inspector David Murphy confirmed that gardaí in Carndonagh are investigating the tragic accident.
"We would like to hear from anyone who was in the Isle of Doagh area last Sunday morning between 10.30am and 11.30am who may have seen something they feel could be significant to our investigation," said Inspector Murphy. Meanwhile, the fifth anniversary of the crash that claimed the lives of eight Inishowen men at Glasmullen, Clonmany, on July 11, 2010, takes place this weekend.
