€2.5m grant for Donegal Airport 14.04.10

DONEGAL Airport has been approved grant funding of more than €2.46m for runway improvements and other capital works.
The money will help replace the landing system at a cost of around €400,000 with €2.3m of the allocation earmarked for the reconfiguration and overlay of the runway and other necessary safety works.
North West MEP Pat the Cope yesterday said it was expected tenders would be invited in the near future and works would be completed later in the year. A total of 90% of the works will be funded by the Department of Transport with the remainder met by the airport.

He paid tribute to the airport's management and staff and users of the airport "who continue to make it a viable business".
