Farmers warned of pay deadline 14.05.10

INISHOWEN farmers have been warned not to miss next week's deadline for applications to the Single Payment Scheme.
While there is a 25-day period for late applications, daily penalties will apply and a 100% penalty will apply after June 11.
Deputy Niall Blaney said local farmers should ensure their application has been submitted even if they have engaged the services of an agent to do the paperwork for them.
“The deadline for applications for the Single Payment Scheme is next Monday, May 17, as it is the last possible date allowed under EU regulations.
“There is a 25-day period after May 17 during which late applications may be submitted but these will be subject to late penalties at a cumulative rate of 1% per working day. Applications received after June 11 will be subject to a 100% penalty.”
Inishowen farmers urged to get their applications in early for the Single Payment Scheme.
The Donegal North East T.D., added: "These harsh penalties make it all the more important that local farmers ensure that their applications are submitted in time.
“It is important that farmers who have engaged the services of an agent for the completion and submission of their form ensure that the application has actually been submitted as the final responsibility lies with the farmer.
“When using the iNet application process it is vital that forms are submitted properly and not merely saved in the system.”
He also warned farmers to ensure they had checked the maps that had been posted to them.
“Farmers who submit their forms by the deadline of May 17 can submit an Amendment Form by May 31 if, following closer scrutiny of the maps of their land parcels, they want to exclude ineligible features.
“I would urge all local farmers to read their applications closely and adhere to the deadlines to ensure prompt and full payment,” added the Fianna Fáil representative.
