Firms want collective buying power 05.05.10

BUSINESS development group Inishowen Inc., has come up with a unique plan to help local companies cut the cost of utilities like electricity through their collective buying power.
The new initiative launched on Monday is aimed at reducing costs for local businesses and helping to create jobs.
The local business lobby group says the collective buying power of Inishowen businesses could help "save millions in the local economy".
Inishowen Inc's Francis Callaghan explained: “Electricity cost reductions will be our initial focus. Our collective purchasing power in this market has massive potential. It's not just about getting the best possible price for our members, it’s also about negotiating the best terms for them so they are not tied to expensive contracts.”

The initiative is supported by Buncrana Chamber of Commerce and Ballyliffin Development group.
Kieran Henderson outlined how the plan will work. “It’s simple - go to Inishowen.com and register for free or give one of your local reps a call or drop into a local agent to sign up. We want all people in business to register no matter how big or small their enterprise, from B&Bs and farms to large businesses and retail outlets and even if you work from home and do not have a fixed premises."
Inishowen Inc is also including community groups in their programmes and welcomes their registration also.
