Lough Swilly Lifeboat Open Day 14.06.10

THE Lough Swilly RNLI will host their annual Open Day next Sunday. The local crew will display their Atlantic 85 Class Inshore Lifeboat along with the auxiliary launching facilities including boarding boats, launching tractor and quad at their base in Ned's Point.

Lough Swilly RNLI's B-Class Atlantic 85 boat in action. A demonstration of the Atlantic 85 during a launch will be held around 3.30pm and again at 4.30pm.
The station’s All Weather Tyne Class Lifeboat will also be accessible to the public at Buncrana Pier on the day.
This will allow members of the public access to all levels of the boat to view the facilities aboard. Crew members will be on hand to answer any
questions and showcase the facilities.
Lifeboat operations manager, Liam Magee, said: “This is a good family day for children of all ages. There is always a great interest in the boats and this event allows everyone up-close access to the equipment at the station and on board the boats.” The annual Open Day takes place on Sunday, June 20 from 2pm to 6pm.
