Alcohol awareness workshop in Moville 27.02.09

THE Moville Community Alcohol Project will host a workshop next week to encourage parents and children to talk about drink and drink-related harm. The workshop entitled 'Talking About Alcohol' will be co-ordinated by David Simpson at Moville Day Centre on Thursday, March 5, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
The Moville Community Alcohol Project has been working in the town for eighteen months. It now has a drop-in evening for young people, a drama, two drama groups, an outdoor pursuits course and other activities.
David Simpson It has also development a unique concept - The Family Conversation - to encourage local families to talk about alcohol.
David Simpson said the concept has been used by about 50 families in the town.
"It gets children and parents talking together about what they think about alcohol. The families that have used it say that they learnt new things about their children and what they think and know," he explained. The 'Talking about Alcohol’ workshop will include a quiz about alcohol, relevant facts and figures and a
chance to explore issues around alcohol.
