Coughlan criticism "sexist" 25.09.09

DONEGAL North East T.D., Deputy Niall Blaney has been forced to defend Tánaiste Mary Coughlan saying some of the comments against her are "bordering on sexist".
Tánaiste Mary Coughlan Deputy Blaney was speaking on the 'Today with Pat Kenny' radio programme yesterday following Ms Coughlan's remarks in the Dáil the previous day that many parts of Colm McCarthy's An Bord Snip Nua report "don't make sense". Ms Coughlan has been variously labelled "gaffe prone", "Calamity Coughlan" and "Blunderwoman". Deputy Blaney said much of what was being said would not be meted out to a male politician. Meanwhile, on the same radio programme Labour T.D., Deputy Pat Rabbitte said he and many others in the Dáil personally liked Ms Coughlan but said she was out of her depth in the Enterprise, Trade and Employment portfolio.
He also questioned Taoiseach Brian Cowen's judgement in appointing her to the role.
