Methodists seek ideas on new hall 22.09.09

THE Inishowen Methodist community are undertaking a feasibility study on the best use of a proposed new community hall to be built in Moville.
The Moville Methodist Community Hall Management Committee hosted a public meeting earlier this month as part of a project funded by the Leader programme though the Inishowen Development Partnership.
The meeting, held in Moville Methodist Hall was facilitated by Kate Wilkinson from local management and community development consultancy Aboutface.
“The meeting was part of a project funded by Leader through Inishowen Development Partnership. The project outcome will be a feasibility report that will include details on how to make best use of the existing hall, explore how the proposed new hall can be part of meeting the needs of the whole community, and to investigate funding options for the new building,” she said.

A broad cross section of the public attended the meeting and a wide range of ideas and options were debated and discussed. Inishowen Methodist Minister Rev Eric Lawson said the existing hall would be replaced when funds permitted.
“As a community we face the challenges of the recession which are impacting on us all, in one way or another. There are more specific challenges, for example ensuring our young people have good quality activities and facilities to meet their needs," said Rev Lawson.
"We also need to think about other members of the community, like our older people and we hope that when the new hall is complete it will be a welcoming and flexible space that can be widely used by all of us."

The feasibility project is expected to be completed by the end of this month.
