BUNCRANA fashion designer Una Rodden recently hit
the big time when actress Mischa Barton, best known
for her role as Marissa Cooper in American TV series
‘The OC,’ wore one of her creations at the Belfast
film premiere of ‘Closing the Ring.’ |
Barton looked stunning
as she took to the red carpet outside Belfast’s
Waterfront Hall at the premiere of Richard
Attenborough’s wartime epic wearing a black skirt
made by Una Rodden and a cream shirt from their
Identity shop in Buncrana.
“Mischa wanted to support local designers when she
came to Belfast,” Joanne Rodden, Una’s sister and
manager of Identity, said.
“We have an outlet on Upper Arthur Street in Belfast
and we were delighted when Mischa decided to wear
our clothes.”
Barton also wore a red dress during her trip that
was previously stocked at the Buncrana shop. Una
Rodden has also supplied an outfit to comedienne and
TV presenter Ruby Wax who recently attended an

awards ceremony in
Belfast.
This weekend, the public will get the chance to
purchase one of Una Rodden’s creations when she
holds a solo fashion show at the Merchant Hotel in
Belfast. Featuring clothes from their summer
collection, the show will include a mix of her own
designs and clothes stocked at their two outlets.
“Una also takes bookings and makes outfits to
order,” Joanne said.
“She’s incredibly busy and we’re booked up until
after Christmas.” Her creations were also showcased
at Belfast Fashion week last month.
With so much talk about the downturn in the economy,
how is the high-end clothing business holding up?
“It’s holding up really well and we’re as busy as
ever,” Joanne said. “We’ve not seen any downturn at
this point anyway.” |
