Inishowen set for bumper summer 02.07.07
Inishowen's tourism
industry is looking good for summer with hotels and
B&Bs reporting a strong start to the season.
A tourism spokesperson in Buncrana told
InishowenNews.com that improved facilities around
the peninsula, good quality restaurants, hotels and
guesthouses, were all contributing to strong sales.
The spokesperson said the number of events and
festivals organised by local communities throughout
the season was also contributing to high visitor
numbers year on year.
"We have a lot of tourists around at the moment and
they're coming here from further and further afield.
We have visitors from Australia, the US and a lot of
people over from Britain.
"They think it's brilliant and feel that the
facilities are very good. They have also remarked on
the number of things you can do here that don't
cost money," said the spokesperson. "We've been
getting compliments on the free children's
playgrounds, the beaches and the number of lovely
scenic walks," added the spokesperson. |

Meanwhile, there were
hundreds of visitors at the weekend for the myriad
festivals and charity events taking place throughout
the peninsula.
These included the third annual Inishowen Summer
Gathering at Inch Island, the inaugural DylanFest and the
Vintage Car Rally in Moville and the McGlinchey
Summer School in |

Clonmany, all of which attracted
good crowds. The weather was also
better than forecast, despite a thunderstorm on
Saturday that, while severe, was short-lived. |
