Buncrana competes on
national stage

A Buncrana centre for
people with disabilities has been chosen with four
other nominees to represent Donegal in the
nationwide Pride of Place Awards 2007.
Cashel na Cor Disability Association Ltd., which
helps people with intellectual disabilities have
joined Carrigart Development Association; Castlefin
Partnership Initiative Ltd; Letterkenny Community
Development Project and the Finn Valley Athletic
Centre to battle it out on the national platform.
Donegal County Council senior executive officer
Garry Martin commended the groups for the work they
had done in their respective communities:
“The focus is on people to shape, change and enjoy
all that is good about their area. This competition
is unique in that it recognises and rewards people
for their contribution to their local area,” he
said.
County manager Michael McLoone said the groups
chosen to represent the county on the national stage
were of great importance to their local communities.
“This award is about people, who create social
networks that focus on social aspects of the
environment,” he said. |
