Good turnout for Foyle Punt night 02.07.07

There was a good turn-out for Friday's launch of the Foyle Punt Association and its bid to regenerate interest in the native boat.

The association which recently secured planning permission for a new boathouse in Moville, hosted its first outing in the Inishowen Maritime Museum, Greencastle, with a drive to attract more members to the group. Charlie McCann, an ex-Foyle pilot from Shrove, provided an overview of the importance of the Foyle Class Punt to communities around Lough
Foyle, while local author and painter Dónal MacPolin, spoke about the history and design of the punt.
