Derry man scoops Lottery fortune 11.07.07

A Derry man has scooped more than £1.6m in the National Lottery.
But there will be no champagne corks popping for 60-year old Denis Doherty and his wife Patricia - as they are both teetotal.
Mr. Doherty, a retired Du Pont worker who lives in the Waterside, said he picked the lucky numbers because a child was crying in his local shop when he was in the queue.
"I didn't want to hold things up so I just wrote down the first numbers that came into my head," he said.
The numbers were 16, 22, 28, 30, 33, 35 - which won him a total of £1,655,605 - a third share of last Saturday's Lotto jackpot.
"Had I been able to take more time to think I have no doubt I would have selected some different numbers.
"None of the numbers had any personal connections like birthdays or anniversaries and had I remembered the date was 07/07/07 I might have been tempted to put in a 7," he said. The Dohertys say they have no plans to move from their home.
"We're not going to rush into anything. We will sit back, relax and take it in. Neither of us drinks at all - so there won't be any champagne," he told the BBC.
Mr. Doherty bought his ticket at the Vivo Supermarket in Trench Road.
