Q. Last month, I returned to live in Ireland after living
abroad for some years. How do I find out whether I am still
registered to vote?

You can check if you are listed on the Register of Electors at
www.checktheregister.ie
. You can also inspect the Register in local authority offices, post
offices, Garda stations and public libraries.
A new draft Register is compiled each year and is published on 1
November. If you are not on the Register and you wish to be included
on it you must fill in form RFA. If you need to correct or change
your entry in the draft Register you must fill in form RFA1. You can
do this up to 25 November each year.
If your name is not on the Register of Electors in February, or if
your address has changed, you may still make an application to be
included in a supplement to the Register. You can make this
application at any time, but in order to be included in the
supplement used at an election, your application must be received by
your local authority at least 15 days before polling day. (Sundays,
public holidays and Good Friday are not counted as days for this
purpose.)
You can download the forms from
www.checktheregister.ie
or get them from your local post office or public library. The forms
are also available from your local authority office and this is
where completed forms should be returned to:
